Many of you have heard us talk of our dear friends Callie and Duncan. They were stationed in Abilene with Larry. Duncan and Larry were in the same shop. They were our life raft in Abilene. We were all young and they took us under their wing being sooo much older (maybe 25 ha) and helped guide us through that first year of marriage! They have remained very dear too us!
Well as many know Duncan has "Gulf War Syndrome" and has battled valiantly for years. He has had a very hard string this past few months and has been in and out of the hospital. Larry and I are very worried for him. He really is a wonderful, kind man. Please take a minute and just say a brief prayer of health and pain free days/nights! Also for Callie...who is at his side every step of the way that she is able to rest and have some peace in her heart!

Jumping into the year 2009
Well the Martin’s finally took the leap (even though we didn’t have much of a choice). Yesterday we got Direct TV. We have not had cable in over 5 years. With the tv’s going dark in a matter of months we had to either buy a box, new tv or cable/satellite. We decided to take the leap. We are still hesitant about our decision. It is nice when there is nothing on forcing the children outside…now we will have to change our thinking to “time to turn the tv off”.
We also finally got a new computer…It is really fancy ( in comparison). Larry’s only wish list was to be able to have to monitor’s running at once. We now have two monitors running! I feel so technologically in the know. However, It is more like looking and not really being ha!

Special Post!
I wanted to add a special post that Julia had very special guests to her party...Grana and Grampie (Carol and Stan for those not related) came all the way from San Antonio (by car) to spend time with us for the big #4. We were blessed with pleasent morning weather allowing us the ability to sit on the back porch and visit and drink coffee! We had lots of good food and just really enjoyed the kids together.
After they left I asked the kids what they love best about Grana Julia said that she gives LOTS of hugs and kisses and Isaac said she gives back rubs even if you don't ask! I asked what they loved the most about Grampie and Julia said he plays hide and seek and Isaac said that he is really smart!
The kids adore their Grana and Grampie and NOT just cuz they spoil them rotten. Hopefully we can arrange to see them more then once every two years!

The Diva turns 4!!
Well April 20th our little girl had her 4th birthday! I just can't believe how big she is getting in such a short time. She is doing amazingly well. She is into dollies and anything girley. She likes to wear those dollar store necklaces and plastic high heeled shoes. However, she can hit a tee-ball like a pro and really enjoys kicking the soccer ball. She is very athletic by nature but still likes to doll it up when she can! She is still speech delayed but it is improving everyday.
She is still going to Sweetwater Bay Montessori and if asked she says that her best friends are Gwen, Vivek, Avery, Swapna, Gavin, Skandon and Swayzie, now mind you that is 1/2 the class! She says that her favorite teacher is Grandpa (who is Ms Carolyn's husband (and not a teacher))...she says that his only job is to wash dishes haha!
She is decided that she is going to marry Amare. (Angela and Andre's little boy) only because he told her so! ha! She does have a rather large crush on a boy down the street, Mac, he is 12 and boy does she like him. She is also very fond of her cousins "baby Landon" (who will probably be called this until he is 30) and her cousin Hunter. Her other favorite thing is tormenting Isaac. Ohh My Gosh she is a pro at this. She can push his very last button!
When she grows up she wants to be a "trashman" or a doctor.
So for her birthday she has been telling us for a number of months that she wants to have a tea party. I found a place online called Mrs. Potts Tea Party. So we decided to go for it! It was a birthday party fit for a princess. All the kids were instructed to dress as a princess or a super hero. I had a friend from my baby board send Julia her older daughter's sleeping beauty dress and she has hardly taken it off. It is really big but who cares, right??
The party was officiated by her favorite princess Snow White. She was thrilled!! All her favorite people were there. They played pin the crown on the princess, had a "find the princess" hunt, and Snow White read them a few princess stories. They also got their face painted by Snow White. For their tea party they drank apple juice and pink lemonade and had all the Nutella and peanut butter, peanut butter and honey and cheese sandwiches that their stomach could hold. Then of course they had cake and presents.
Julia received an All American Girl Bitty Baby from my mom and sister. She has named her Fiona. She named her this because "Fiona is a Princess". My aunts and cousins gave her accessories for the bitty baby. She got a diaper bag and high chair and a swimming suit. She also got a changing table from her Grana and Grampie and mom and dad. Isaac got her a beta fish...which she named Foxy (she has this whole F theme going with names ha). Another favorite gift of her's was a Barbie Cash register she got from her Papa. There were many more gifts. Our girl was spoiled senseless and know that she has played with every little toy she has received.

Has it really been since November??
Has it really been since Novemeber since I have posted on this silly thing? How did that happen? Wow it has been wild and crazy here. I will split it up into a few posts.
Over spring break our family took a road trip to Orange County. Larry recently go re-acquainted with his Jr. High best friend Reed. So we headed up there for a visit. We had a really nice time. The weather was GORGEOUS! We stayed in Newport Beach (next to San Diego, my favorite place to be). We went to the beach late at night. Then returned for daylight play. We also hit Knott's Berry Farm. It was wonderful. It appears that everyone was at Disney that weekend as we didn't have any problems with crowds and the longest ride line was 10 minutes. Which really makes for a good time.
After Knotts Berry Farm we were too tired for words, so we decided to just pick up, take-out and eat in our hotel room. When we came schlepping back up to our room our key failed to open the door. Larry called down to the main desk (it was too far for weary tourists to walk...it was a short walk across two buildings and a pool) so he called and they sent a bellman. Well we were too tired to wait...so right there in the middle of the hall at the Hyatt Newport Beach we proceeded to eat dinner. It was so much fun to be silly!

then the boys got a chance at the big boy rides! Isaac got to ride a few really big roller coasters. I think he really got used to the taste of thrill!
Julia did not like the darkness of the cavern ride. It was pretty funny. This is the best picture...showing how she did NOT like it! (Isaac of course is being silly!)

The Beach!
Here is a great picture. This surf board nearly took out Isaac...Luckily Daddy was their to catch it. Th surfer was really nice and offerred to let larry and the kids play with it but since the water was cold and no one knows how (heehee) they declined!

Its a new DAY!
Can this household be anymore excited then it is about the election of Barack Obama. We danced around the room and shouted out the door it was like the clock striking midnight. God knows that he has a tall order...and we can only hope that he can at the very list nick the surface of what needs to be done in this great country. We have very high hopes and really feel that he was the best candidate!
The picture above is what the kids did last night. To help learn the electoral process we had Isaac count it up and color the states as the came up until we had a winner. Julia did not take the "lesson" as serious! ha

Time flies....
I can't seem to find time these days to keep up with my blog!
Everyone is moving along here. We are all good. No news is good news in these parts of the world.
Julia's speech has really improved. She can almost say brother now. Some days with her are a challenge...she is really starting to realize that we don't always understand her and it frustrates her. We have her in a tap, ballet and tumbling class. she really seems to enjoy it. She is so cute because the day of dance she always says "I gonna take a nap and when I wake up I go to DANCE CLASS!!!" She loves dance class!
Here is Angelina Ballerina in her tap shoes.
Isaac is now really active in Krav Maga. It is a Israeli form of Martial Arts. It is straight forward self-defense and no Kata's like other forms. It is 60 minutes of kicking butt and cardio. He sweats a boatload while he is there. We have taken a break from cubs. He has really changed his focus to this Krav Maga and anything that keeps the book worm sweating is ok in our book.

Larry is hanging in there teaching...he just finished his first set up parent teacher conferences pretty unscathed.
I as always remain the same. Just working my 16 hour overnight shifts. Nothing to share. We are coming into Winter Visitor and RSV/Respiratory season so summer vacation at work is over. I will be busy!
Before I go I want to make sure to remind everyone that it is only 12 days until we vote. Don't forget to get out there and stretch your RIGHT! (or left whichever the case haha!)
Here are the Kids in their Voting T-shirts. Isaac really wanted to get an Obama T-shirt so He picked this one. If you can't read it, it says "If I were 18 I would vote for Obama" and Jul's says "Obama Girl" They were facing the sun...this is why so Squinty! By the Way...We call Julia Phyllis Diller, can you tell Why???
