Today is Isaac's Big day! Hard to believe that our first born...well planned and very wanted was born 10 years ago today after 23 hours of Labor at 2:22am. I should have known by the long labor what a challenge he would be!
This boy came out knowing what E=MC2 means...he has always been smarter then his mother, sometimes to his mother's frustration. He has a great smile and a wonderful sense of humor! He is the favorite of all our son's **wink wink**. He is a wonderful story teller and can make up some of the smartest stories I/or his teachers have heard. (now if I could convince him to put it on paper). He is honest to a fault and HATES it when others are rule breakers. He is a good and loyal friend but demands fairness.
Isaac still after all these years says he wants to be a palentologist (dinosaur digger). We will see if this continues through his teens!
His favorite things to do are read. He is really starting to enjoy comic books but still loves books of a fantastical nature such as Harry Potter. He is currently reading a book called Fable Heart. He always has a book in hand everywhere he goes! He also enjoys riding his scooter or bike, swimming, drawing (another new love) he is actually quite good when he slows down and thinks a minute! He still is a bionicle fan and when not reading or playing game boy...he is building "new" bionicle character!
His birthday party is tomorrow and I will post pictures then....but until then!

Been Awhile!
I have been so busy the last week. Summer has started and school is officially over. We as a family have some interesting news! The weather was absolutely crazy in the Valley of the sun this week. Early in the week we had record breaking highs of 111 by friday we in the mid 70's and raining. It was a freak of nature that we welcomed. We got some great pictures of Julia playing in the rain! I will try to post later!
Larry has been tutoring for the Mesa Public School System at one of their Montessori schools. They came to him two weeks ago and have asked him to apply for one of their schools that has a Montessori componenant in it. After some deep soul searching and some heart to heart conversations Larry has decided to apply for it. It is taking some run around. Larry will need to retake his teacher certification exam and there is a new law that mandates that he must take a college course to teach English learners. So we spent last week rallying to get these things accomplished. He will take his teaching exam on June 7th and he starts his class next week. If all goes well he will be teaching again in the fall. This is the ironic part he will be working at the school that Isaac last attended prior to our bringing him home to school. Isaac still goes there for ELP so it will be a very short commute. Especially in this time of high gas prices!
Isaac is turning 10 this week (May 30th). It is hard to believe that our baby boy is leaving the single digits forever! We are having a pool party with family and a few of his buddies on Saturday. He changed his mind on his theme to Bionicles. If anyone knows Isaac even a little bit the only thing he loves more then bionicles is books. I found a theme cake at Super Target and the rest was history.
Julia finished her school year with Sweetwater Bay. She had a great report card and we ended the year thrilled that we found these lovely ladies. We had planned to pull her for the summer but with her speech delays we decided to have her continue through the summer. She has had a speech eval with the school district (at the request of her private speech therapist) and has been referred for "further evaluation". We love her school very much but have decided to see if she qualifies for the "special" preschool with the school district. We will continue to discuss and pray on what direction we should go in with speech/school! Now if we could just get her grow hair things would be good ha!

Mother's Day!
I hope all the Mom's out there had a great Mother's Day. I as always was treated as a Queen. I worked all night. So the kids woke me at 10am and had made me (mostly Larry) Strawberry pancakes with fresh strawberries and strawberry syrup, eggs and bacon. Daddy had gone to Starbucks and bought my favorite coffee drink. Then I headed back to bed for a bit.
When I got up we all went and saw "Horton Hears A Who". The kids loved it. This was only the 2nd time Julia has been to a movie and she did really pretty good. She got antsy in the middle but all in all was very good!
Then My sister and mom came over and Isaac had wanted us to make our own mini pizza's but had no luck finding the little boboli (sp) crusts so they decided to just order pizza. My sister brought a Baskin Robbins cake for desert (YUM!)
I have one rule with Mother's Day....the kids must make my gifts. They always do such a nice job. Every year I have to tell them that "This year is my favorite". Well...."THIS year is my favorite"

Summer is coming.
Well we are surely feeling the heat in Arizona. It is not unbearable yet. You sure can feel that it is on its way though. We had a pretty uneventful week.
Isaac had his last day of ELP (smart kids class) until August. I can't believe this little boy is going to be in the 5th grade. Doesn't seem possible. He has pretty well finished with the 4th grade as a homeschooler. The boys have plans to go to Cub Scout camp this year. I am glad I don't have to go haha!
Larry has been busy picking up a few tutoring jobs and did some drywall work for a friend this past week. He has really been busy in the recent weeks.
Julia had a great week (as always). She really loves her school. To here here tell it she paints every single day with Miss Stacey and Grandpa(Ms. Carolyn's husband). She suprised me the other day when she recognized the letter "C" on her Dora tv game (that she got for her birthday). She is also really getting good with her colors.
We have spent alot of time this week at with my grandmother. She is doing really well. I try to help her shower at least 2 days a week. We have also been working on a puzzle together. Grandma has really taken a liking to Julia. They enjoy building Lego's together.
We are now staring to plan Isaac's birthday. He wants a Transformer themed party. We have had a hard time finding a theme cake. He told me the other day that he wants me to make his cake. I am glad someone thinks I have this hidden talent (that I don't have!). I still can't believe that he is moving out of the single digits.

Tomorrow is Day 14
Wow we made it! I think that this actually changed our family. We have been cheating but still the tv and computer has been off more then on! This morning I turned off the tv and not one child protested! AMAZING!
I am not sure if I blogged that Isaac lost his glasses recently. It has driven us crazy for days. He is normally very good with his glasses. He only wears them to read and I figured we would lose them sooner or later but have been suprised at how deligent he has been. Well we tore the house apart looking for them and no luck. We retraced tracks repeatedly. Cleaned out both cars. Yelled and screamed at Isaac....and today...Larry pulled a towel from under the bed....he pulled a baby blanket that Julia uses for her dollies and wrapped in the blanket...THE GLASSES! Larry asks Julia is she did it...and she responds that she did. Man.....do we ohhh Isaac a few apologies!
I spent the weekend at work! Nothing to exciting. The average. We are tripping onto the season when drownings go way up. I think that is the worst part of my job! Hearing that a small one is coming in and not doing well always makes my heart sink. Remember how important it is to watch those kids around the water. I know that sounds like a cliche' but it is true. I don't think any ONE of us will ever think that we will be waiting in an ER for a child that was found in water! It is good to be paranoid when it comes to watching kids around water! Alright. Informercial over! ha!

Well we made it to day 10
I think we are getting a little lazy about the whole no tv/computer thing...well let me say that the adults are! The children are doing WAY better then the adults...where is our will power!
We have had a pretty good week. Larry is sub'ing the rest of this week at Powell Jr. High. Some may remember that when Larry was in Ameri-Corps (a million years ago) he was the volunteer coordinator at Powell Community School at Powell. So it has been fun for him to return. Many people still recognized him and are still there. Gosh nice to know you are still recognizable in over 10 years ha!
Isaac had excitement this week. At his Homeschool Enrichment Program (Eagleridge) he was called to the office with a few other children to receive a Citizenship Award. He was so darn proud of himself. We are going to frame it and put it on his wall!
Julia's week was good too. Her Great Aunt Jan sent her some jelly sandles that have the strap between the toe and triangle part that lays on the top of the foot is all silver glitter...well Aunt Jan knows how to please a little girl...she wears those shoes EVERYWHERE! so much so that when we went to take shoes that Aunt Lorna got her for her birthday back (wrong size) she insisted on getting them in purple....There is a book out there called Fancy Nancy...it is a children's book...next time you are in target take a look...and you will see Julia...as that is the way she is with her shoes and her bracelets...etc...she must have at least one ponytail with a bow every day she goes to school she is definately fancy! However...she is also rough and tumble...she likes to be out there with the boys tearing it up and playing t-ball...I think she may be our powder puff football girl...but we will see!
